• The site is a 'wiki', so can be edited directly by users from a web browser.
• Part of a broader movement - see CommonsLinks - to promote sharing and distribution of information rather than protection and concentration.
• Some important functions:
  • engagement : giving every person involved the opportunity to express their views, ideas and problems
    • a driver for future direct interaction; not a replacement.
    • an online space for student-student engagement, augmenting the one-way communication of official information on the main Union website.
  • transparency: overcoming knowledge control and concentration
    • a space to share details of University and UMSU committee & council meeting

Register

• All Student Union members are encouraged to register on this site in order to edit pages. Some elements of the site have restricted access (for privacy of specified groups), but otherwise please add new topics, link words to new topics, suggest further ideas, etc. This is ideally a highly interactive, decentralised process. Also, all students are encouraged to sign up to receive the UMSU e-newsletter.
